Weird RedCloth output caused by ".."

Reported by Kieran P | September 15th, 2015 @ 05:50 PM

Consider the following text:

A.. A

You would imagine it would return:

A.. A

Instead, it returns this:

A.. A

A.. AB

A.. ABC

Using the latest version of RedCloth and even does this on the RedCloth website: http://redcloth.org

When you remove the ".." on the first line, everything works as expected.

When you remove the new lines above and below line "B", it works as expected.

When the first line ends with ".." (rather than being in the middle of it), it works as expected.

When the ".." is not followed by a space ("A..A"), it works as expected.

However, in the case described above, when the conditions are right, this is clearly not what is expected and is causing havoc.

If the fix isn't a quite one, we'll have to consider moving to some of the newer more supported formats (like markdown)
