bc.. uses multiple <code> tags to wrap text with code breaks

Reported by shea (at sysach) | May 17th, 2011 @ 08:53 AM

I'm developing a blog app which uses redcloth, but I am having trouble implementing a code formatting tool. When I use bc.., with the text

bc.. line one
line two

line three
line four

the resulting html is

line one
line two

line three
line four

This is really weird when I have a block of code with line breaks, and if I have separate styles for my code tag(s) this looks really strange. Any way I can disable this / patch it out?

I know! Weird, huh? But that's the way Textile works as designed by the PHP
people. Reference Textile 2 at http://textile.sitemonks.com

I'm going to keep this ticket open as a reminder to talk to them about it.
I'm now in collaboration with them on a common Textile spec and hopefully
this wrinkle can get ironed out.

In the meantime, RedCloth will stick to the Textile "standard" and keep the
multiple code blocks. I suggest you adjust your styling or do a little
post-processing. The way RedCloth is currently written, I don't think it can
be monkeypatched out. A rewrite is in process, though!
